You should wear base layer/long underwear, set of clothes, long warm socks, extra socks (optional), winter jacket, snow pants, extra pair of snow pants (optional), gloves/mittens, and extra gloves/mittens (optional), goggles (optional), balaclava/neck gaiter, hand warmers (optional), helmet (required by BSA, available to rent), hat, change of clothes for the ride home, and money for food/drinks (lunch, snacks, drinks, dinner).
We will meet at the church parking lot around 6:45 AM and plan to leave around 7:00 AM. It should take about 2 hours to get to Snowstar, and it opens at 9:00 AM. We can plan to stay until we are ready to leave (last year we left around 5:00 PM).
Below is a list of the prices I got from their website so you can estimate the cost. I emailed Snowstar to see what group discounts would be, so I will share that information when I get it.
Lift tickets: $54 adult, $46 youth (6-11)
Equipment Rental (same for skiing or snowboarding): $36
Helmet: $12 (required by BSA)
Group Lessons: $30/person
Package that includes Rental / Beginner Hill Pass / Lesson: $70 adult, $60 youth
Outside food and beverages are not permitted at Snowstar so you will need to get snacks and lunch there. They have The Lodge, Peak’s Tavern, Fireside Lounge, and Snack Shack.
We can plan to meet somewhere as a group, or drivers are free to make your own plans as a small group.
This event is open to scouts and their families.
