Event Description:
Celebrate the W. D. Boyce Council's 50th Anniversary, and honor Scouting's heritage in the Founder's hometown! On February 8, 1910, William Dickson Boyce, then a resident of Ottawa, Illinois, incorporated The Boy Scouts of America. Discover BSA's origin story, visit historic sites including Ottawa's Scouting Heritage Museum, and honor W. D. Boyce at his burial site. This weekend is the W. D. Boyce Council's ultimate anniversary celebration as we go "Forward with the Founder"! Program planning currently under development includes some of Scouting's most favorite activities for Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, and Venturing units, as well as opportunities for fellowship with Scouts from around the region.
