Event Description:

Troop 163 Winter Break Camp Out at Camp Wokanda on December 27-29. This will be a cabin camping experience but the brave may camp in a tent as long as there are two in a tent. Please sign-up soon so we can decide how big a cabin we will need.

Cost will be determined by number of participants to cover cost of cabin and food but will not be more than approx. $30-$40. Every Camper who would like to participate in a White Elephant Gift Exchange should bring a gift valued at $10 or less only please.

Anyone interested in Grubmaster, please notify Nathan. Any other Scouts looking for Campout Leadership should also see Nathan.

Activity Plans: Friday: Meet at Crossroads after 4:30p to depart by approximately 5:30p. Once at Wokanda we will Setup campsite and relax by the fire. Please bring your own dinner to eat on the way. Saturday: Starts with breakfast and a full day of activities including hiking, winter games, lunch, time for to work on outdoor requirements, and many more traditional Scouting activities will take place from 9:30am until around 5:30pm. Dinner will be served followed by campfire songs, skits, and snacks! Sunday: Starts with breakfast for the Saturday campers. A brief non-denominational church service will be available to those who choose to participate followed by camp clean up and pack out.

Please see the campout checklists on Troop 163’s website for ideas on what to bring. Add warm clothes and extra socks and a backup pair of shoes as well. This could be a practice run for Klondike gear prep. There are wheeled carts to bring your gear to the campsite (no cars allowed at the campsites), so recommend packing light. There is also an enclosed bathroom/shower house at the base of the park, so recommend bringing water shoes or flip flops if you plan to shower.

Tent Camper Additional Items: tent, ground tarp, sleeping gear, sleeping pad. Cabins have 10-12 beds including a basic mattress (top bunk may or may not have a railing). Electricity is available inside the cabins. The cabins are heated by a wood burning stove.

Other Notes: Please let us know of any food preferences/allergies so that we can make appropriate accommodations. Every participant will also need a signed Peoria Park District waiver form.
